ISU Extension will again offer the popular Healthy Meals in a Hurry program in May. Busy cooks can prepare fast, convenient meals and make smart food choices. Healthy Meals in a Hurry is a hands on, cook ahead program to be held at the Laurel United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 16 from 9 – 11 a.m. and on Monday, May 18 at the First Congregational Church, Marshalltown from 5:45 to 8:00 p.m.
Participants must pre-register by calling ISU Extension, Marshall County, 641-752-1551, by May 15 for either program. The program fee is $ 35 and includes all ingredients and a copy of the ISU Extension cookbook publication Healthy Meals in a Hurry. Participants are asked to bring a set of measuring cups and spoons for their use during the program. Participants will prepare seven make and take dishes.
ISU Extension will share tips on modifying recipes to reduce sodium and discuss food storage methods for preserving freshness within frozen foods. To pre-register by May 15, please contact your Marshall County ISU Extension Office, by calling 641-752-1551.
