JrMstGdn

Our Jr. Master Gardeners learned about container gardening at our June Meeting.  Nila Landspurger, Master Gardener, gave a presentation on how to make attractive container gardens.  She suggested the THRILL-CHILL-SPILL approach; pick a tall, spectacular plant for the thrill, a lower complimentary plant for the chill, and a flowing plant that spills over the edge to finish things off!  We divided into two teams.  The teams worked together to develop complimentary pots, each placed on either side of the entry to the extension office.  They decided on ISU colors and chose a coreopsis for their THRILL.  Around the coreopsis they added red geraniums and white daisies.  Spilling over the sides of the pots are vining sweet potato plants.  A beautiful addition to our office building - thanks to our Jr. Master Gardeners!  Go to JuneMtg for more photos of our meeting.
