Becoming a Mahaska County 4-H Volunteer is a fairly simple process. However, our youth are our most valuable resource, and we hold our volunteers to the highest standards of quality and safety. For their protection we do require a number of reference and safety checks for our ongoing volunteers. Below are examples of the paperwork you will be expected to complete before you will be approved as an official Mahaska County 4-H volunteer.  To receive a Volunteer CPSP Background Check Packet, please contact Lea DeCook, our Office Assistant at 641-673-5841 or email decookL@iastate.edu.

The Cablevey OskyBots & The Musco Rovers FIRST Lego Leagues (FLL) are for any youth in 4th-6th grade.  They will meet at a location TBA to gain teamwork, communication, and leadership skills and knowledge in engineering, computers, and Lego Mindstorms Robotics.  The members work with adult and youth volunteer coaches to gain skills needed to build and program their own Lego Robot.  Members do all of the hands-on work and take ownership in their roles.  They learn about gracious professionalism and will compete at regional and/or state events.
We are in need of adult and youth volunteers to assist with FLL.  Help is needed in the research project area.  If you are interested, please let Amy know by calling 641/673-5841 ext. 28 or email vermeera@iastate.edu.
