Join 4-H in 3 Easy Steps

Our typical enrollment period is from September 1st through May 15th. Don't worry, if you have missed the enrollment deadline for this year we can still get you enrolled so that you can fully participate for next year!

4-H is a program offered for youth in the 4th through the 12th grades. There is a seperate "Clover Kids" program for children K-3 .

: Pick a club.
You may choose a club based on location, age, or special interest. To see a map of 4-H clubs in Mahaska County click here. If club leader information is not available from the club map, please contact Amy. We are happy to assist you in contacting a club leader. It is important that you make contact with the club leaders, as they can give you specific information about the club such as meeting times, special club rules, and whether they are already at full membership.

Step 2: Register

The 4-H Online database is the method for Online Registration. The Database tells the club leader and the Extension office who you are, where you live, and what your project interests are. There is also an annual program fee of $30 to enroll in 4-H. Currently we don't have the ability to accept payment on-line. This fee helps to support the state 4-H program. If you feel that this fee would constitute and undue financial burden, finanacial aid is available from the Mahaska County 4-H Foundation.

Step 3: Learn about 4-H
You should spend some time familiarizing yourself with the 4-H program. Look for a project in your interest areas by checking in the Pick-Your-Adventure Guide.

Orient yourself to 4-H with our Project Guide, or consider attending one of our "New Family" Workshops. Check our newsletter for more information about the next workshop date and topic. You can also learn more about Mahaska County 4-H by checking out our 4-H Handbook.
