Mahaska County and the surrounding area offer a vast number of youth and family service organizations which exist to ensure our children grow up healthy, happy, and successful. Unfortunately with so many resources available, it can sometimes be difficult for youth and families to connect with the agencies that serve them. Luckily there is Kidtoberfest; a free, one-day event which brings together youth-development and youth-services agencies from around Mahaska County. The event provides area youth and parents the opportunity to learn more about all youth development resources available.

Last year’s Kidtoberfest was an overwhelming success. It was very well received by the community, and more than 350 youth (age 12 and under) and their families attended and were able to enjoy the entertainment, education, and resources available at Kidtoberfest. The event connects agencies to youth and parents, provides information about services offered, and allows participants the opportunity to enroll in programs and activities. Along with the informational booths, the event also features quality entertainment like inflatable games, hands-on activities, local children’s entertainers, mascots, and youth development activities.
