05/10/2008- Master Gardener Plant Sale
Mahaska County Master Gardeners will have annuals & perennials plants for sale. They will also have quality garden art and gifts, garden markers. As well as second time around gardening books, cookbooks, & periodicals. Demonstations will be: 9 am Tomato Cages, 10 am Trash Can composters, & 11 am Quick & Easy Plant Markers.
05/10/2008- Get an Update on Consumer Product Safety
Learn what resources you can use to help protect children and families. A display of unsafe consumer products will be provided and free publications will be distributed. A special "playtime with toys" will teach you about toy safety "specifics".

05/10/2008- Mahaska County Sheep Weigh-In
Sheep Weigh-In for Mahaska County will take place on Saturday, May 10 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds Scale Area.
Exhibitors may weigh in up to 15 Market Lambs & 12 derby lambs (EVERY EXHIBITOR MUST WEIGH-IN AT LEAST ONE DERBY LAMB).
State Fair & Ak Sar Ben Verification will take place at this weigh-in. Ear tags cost $2.00 an

Clothing Selection - 4-H’ers select and purchase an outfit for themselves to develop skills in buying
clothing for a particular purpose. Clothing may be purchased, new or used, from any source.

05/12/2008- Mahaska County Dog Obedience Class
If you would like to exhibit a dog at the Southern Iowa Fair or just want to train your dog, you should attend the Dog Obedience Classes this Spring!
Classes are required for those planning to exhibit.
First year dog exhibitors do not bring dogs the first night. Second year dog exhibitors bring dogs. Both first and second year exhibitors meet
05/13/2008- Nutrition/Horticulture Activity at Oskaloosa Community PreSchool
Suzette Striegel, Mahaska County Extension Horticulturist and/or other MCEO staff will have a nutrition/horticulture activity for the Preschool students.
