: The Iowa Master Gardener program educates individuals who have a strong interest in home horticulture. To become a Master Gardener, 40 hours of classroom time is required, followed by 40 hours of volunteer community service. The 2014 Master Gardener classroom training starts September 11th and runs for eight consecutive Tuesday evenings through November 4th. In addition, there are five Thursday classes, dates to be announced. There is also a Saturday class to be held at Iowa State University Campus in Ames.
