Register now for ServSafe® Food Safety Certification Class to be held June 13 in Winterset

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Madison County will be hosting a ServSafe® food safety certification class in Winterset on Tuesday, June 13 from 9 am until 6 pm. Mary Krisco, Nutrition and Wellness Specialist, will be teaching the class. This class will prepare individuals to become a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM), a requirement for food establishments in Iowa. The ServSafe® program blends information from the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research, and years of food sanitation training experience and is administered through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
This class will be held at the ISU Extension Office in Winterset. To register, contact Megan Freel at 515-957-5763 or e-mail meganmae@iastate.edu. The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 30, 2017. All workshop participants must study the ServSafe® manual before the workshop in order to pass the exam. Please indicate whether you would like to pick up this book from the Polk County Extension office in Altoona, or have the book mailed to you for $6 extra shipping and handling. The price of the book itself is included in the $150 workshop fee. Workshop fees may be paid by check, cash, or credit card. There is a 3% convenience charge for credit card purchases. The ServSafe certification exam is difficult for most people. To increase your chances of passing on the first try, please register at least 2 weeks in advance of the class so that you will have time to study the book thoroughly. Study materials and practice tests will be mailed to you with your book.
