Horse Project "Kick Off Meeting" - Sun, Feb 12

February 12, 2012—The annual “Kick Off Meeting” for the horse project—Jackson Building, Madison County Fairgrounds, 2 pm. It is strongly recommended that all horse project youth and families attend this information meeting. We will discuss important dates and information relating to the upcoming year including special events, safety clinics, horsemanship skill assessment requirements, and fundraisers. Youth will receive a packet of information and details relating to the horse project for 2012. New youth can be measured for a complimentary riding helmet which is required at all 4-H horse sponsored events.

SNOW CAMP - Sat, Feb 11

Madison County ISU Extension and Madison County Conservation are teaming up to host Snow Camp, a day camp for youth in grades K-6th! Camp participants will explore the wonderful world of snow with fun indoor and outdoor activities, including winter-themed games, crafts, snacks and more!

Workshop will feature Dr. Corie England of Gravel Road Equine Ambulatory Service and will be held at Farmers Coop in Creston on Thursday, February 23. Topics will include choosing the correct vaccination program, tips on choosing the correct de-worming program, and LIVE equine teeth floating demonstration.
Show Animal Workshop - Feb 27 @ East Union HS in Afton

Learn from local professionals about selection, daily care and management, basic nutrition, and feeding tips for beef, lamb/goat, swine, and rabbit/poultry. Pizza party begins at 6 PM; workshop to follow. FSQA training will be offered.

Kids On Scene - Videography Club

Kids On Scene Videography Club is a special interest club for youth who are interested in video planning, production and editing. Any Madison County youth fourth grade or older is eligible to join. Wanted! New 4-H Volunteers Invited to 4-H Training Program!

Beginning this fall, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H staff across Iowa will join together to provide new 4-H club/project and Clover Kids volunteers with a newly designed training program. Trainings will be offered at 9 different locations across the state. The next date is Feb. 11 at Ankeny.

SOIL SOAKERS Youth Gardening Club

Soil Soakers is a gardening club for youth in grades 4-12 who are interested in gardening, nature, and being outdoors. Club members partner with Master Gardener volunteers to learn, plant, and tend garden plots.
