Family Nutrition Program
February 6, 2013

Learn new ways to help picky eaters try new foods, strengthen family relationships, save time and $ at the store and in the kitchen, and get more physical activity with your family. Free incentives each week, food tastings or demos, receive affordable, family friendly recipes. Attend all 8 classes & receive an ISU certificate and cookbook! Classes are being offered in Winterset and Earlham beginning in April.

Robotics

Join us Saturday, April 27th, 9:00 AM-Noon, at the Extension office for a fun robotics workshop – build a robot with a team, make it move, and find out about 4-H robotics club. Open to any 4th-6th grade youth. $5 registration fee (scholarships available). Space is limited to first 10 registrants.

Great Beginnings for Families

Are you a parent of an infant, toddler or pre-school age child (0-5 years)? Do you want to learn how to get your child off to a good start? If so, join other parents in attending Great Beginnings for Families in Winterset beginning March 21. This six session program will help you better understand your child, deal with common parenting issues, and strengthen your family. Participants may earn necessity pantry points.

These are hay prices paid at auction in the recent past weeks. Much of the price information is obtained from USDA Hay Market News. Personal contacts of local Iowa hay auctions secured price information for these market outlets. Auctions were chosen to reflect prices across Iowa.

In Iowa there are several Quality Initiatives that child care providers can be involved in to assist with increasing the quality of their child care programs. While some standards are the same for both Family Child Care Homes and Child Care Centers, there are some quality initiatives that are specific to the setting that child care is provided in. In this newsletter, we will cover quality in Child Care Centers and Preschools.

At Eyes On The Child Babysitting Club, youth can increase babysitting skills and knowledge, learn about local babysitting jobs through the club's babysitter referral service, make new friends and have lots of fun! New members are always welcome.

4RKids Early Childhood Iowa is currently accepting preschool scholarship applications for enrollment in qualified preschools for the 2012-2013 school year. The scholarships are available to families in Adair, Dallas, Madison and Warren counties.
