Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach is now accepting registrants for Annie’s Project, a program focused on empowering women in agriculture, to be held in Sibley during Feb. and March 2017. Annie’s Project is a six-session course created to guide women in making good decisions for their farm business. It will be held at the Osceola Community Hospital Education Room in Sibley beginning Thursday, Feb. 23 and continuing every Thursday through March 30. There will be a meal at 5:30 p.m. and the session will last from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Clippings now includes more diverse topics that go beyond horticulture, though horticulture will still be an occasional and timely topic. The column will remain focused on research-based information written by ISU Extension and Outreach program specialists.

Each year Iowa State University recognizes the excellence of faculty and staff accomplishments through university awards. Cheryl Heronemus, regional extension education director for counties in northwest Iowa, was honored with the 2015 R.K. Bliss Award. The award, named for the director of extension from 1912 to 1946, recognizes outstanding achievement of an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach staff member for developing an overall or continuing extension education program.
