Iowa Master Gardener
July 6, 2015

1.  Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who share a love of gardening, an enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to helping others. Core training consists of 40 hours of horticulture education. Topics include soil basics, lawn care, flower and vegetable gardening, ornamental trees and shrubs, fruit crops, houseplants, weed and pest control.

NW Iowa Research Farm Field Day
June 23, 2015

Iowa State University (ISU) Northwest Iowa Research Farm field day, Wednesday, July 8. The research farm is located south of Calumet in O’Brien County. ISU Extension and Outreach continues to anticipate Iowans’ needs for their farms, families, businesses, and communities.Registration and coffee is at 9 a.m. with the field day starting at 9:30. A noon lunch will be available for attendees at a minimal charge.

Farmland Leasing and Land Value Northwest Iowa
June 19, 2015

More than half of Iowa farmland is rented. In some Iowa locations, as much as 70 percent of the land is farmed by farmers who don’t own the land. In Northwest Iowa, the result is many conversations and negotiations between farmland owners and producer-tenants to determine what makes sense for farmland leases and cash rental rates. Workshops will be held across northwest Iowa counties starting July 23 through July 31. Details and registration forms here.
