Summer Horticulture Assistant Position
The position involves taking care of the ISU Research and Demonstration Garden located at the Lyon County Fair Grounds. The assistant will report and work closely with the Horticulture Educator and Lyon County Extension Staff to carry out the following responsibilities:
• Water and weed the garden
• Mow the grass alongside the garden
• Assist the Horticulture Educator with mulching, pest control monitoring, harvest and end of the season cleanup.
There is also an opportunity to participate in a research project being conducted at the gardenthis season by ISU Extension and Outreach Horticulture Department.
Mower, gas, tools and other supplies are provided. The position requires availability through the summer and comes with a $600.00 stipend. The stipend will be paid out over a four month period June through September. A minimum of 6 hours per week is expected though hours may vary due to weather. Must be age 16 or older to apply.
