Lucas County 4-H’ers exhibited at the annual Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Expo held at the Quest Center in Omaha, Nebraska September 22 – September 27, 2009. They exhibited livestock in the areas of market beef, breeding beef, market swine, market sheep, Catch-A-Calf and the Lamb Challenge.
Aaron Cain of Chariton exhibited the Champion Division II Market Swine. Derek Head of Derby exhibited the Reserve Champion Lamb Challenge lamb in the live show.
In the Catch-a-Calf contest, Chelsea Head and Derek Head were selected through an application and interview process for the 2010 program. They will each receive a calf to care for and maintain production practices throughout the coming year. As part of the contest, each participant must exhibit the animal at the 2010 4-H Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Expo.

Breeding Beef: Austin Hamilton, Blue; Derek Head, Blue; and Kelsey Seuferer, Purple

Lamb Challenge: Derek Head - Purple (Live), Blue (Showmanship); Devin Head – Purple (Live), Blue (Showmanship) and Purple (Carcass)
Market Swine: Aaron Cain – 2 Purples and 1 Blue (Live) and 2 Blues and 1 White (Carcass), Purple (Showmanship)
