Louisa County plays a big part in pork production in Iowa -- which is the number one state in pork production in the nation!  Celebrate that fact while eating bacon, learning more about the pork industry and having fun this weekend at the first ever Louisa County Bacon Festival.

ISU Extension & Outreach has planned a trivia scavenger hunt that will assure that you leave with more knowledge about hogs than you came with -- and maybe a few dollars in prize money too!

The ServSafe® food safety training program is one day, 8-hour training. Session topics include:  Foodborne Illnesses, Keeping Food Safe,  Forms of Contamination, Food Allergens, Purchasing, Receiving and Storage, Food Preparation and Service, Safe Facilities and Pest Management, Cleaning and Sanitizing

ServSafe will be offered in Louisa County on October 9th -- space is limited, so RSVP is required!

Emerald Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been positively identified in a residential tree in the city of Burlington in Des Moines County, making this the second location where the invasive beetle has been found in Iowa.  What does this mean to your Ash trees in Louisa County?  What can you do to limit the spreak of EAB?  What does EAB look like?  Find all the answers to these questions and some contacts for further information here.
