The Parent Education Consortium (PEC) offers the guidance and support that parents have come to trust and rely on to help them get through the challenging early years of parenting and beyond. PEC provides parenting classes and resources to any parent of a young child (0-5 years old) as well as group presentations to caregivers, educators and community members on a wide variety of topics related to parenting practices and healthy development. Backed by grant funding from Early Child Iowa, PEC is able to offer all of this at no charge.
PEC is pleased to announce that it has taken its standards of parenting education to the next level by working towards and being awarded the Iowa Family Support Credential! PEC is only the thirty-fourth Iowa program to earn this honored distinction. The Iowa Family Support Credential is awarded to family support and parent education programs that are validated through an external evaluation to be in substantial adherence to the Iowa Family Support Standards.
The Iowa Family Support Standards are based on the most up to date, evidence based practice in the family support field. Adherence to the standards indicates that the program is providing high quality services that will result in positive outcomes for young children and their families. The Parent Education Consortium diligently worked toward meeting all of the 139 standards over the course of more than two years.
You’re invited to join PEC during an
