Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Student Support Worker will assist elementary students in an after school program, STARS, at Johnson School of the Arts.
1. Provide positive leadership and supervision to 1st -5th Grade elementary students during after-school program.
2. Lead and co-lead a variety of activities with students which may include; recreation, crafts, and academics.
3. Assist students with homework and reading.
4. Contribute to providing a safe and positive learning environment for students.
5. Prepare teaching materials and other tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements:
• High school diploma
• Prefer CPR/First Aid Certifications
• 2 or more years worth of experience working with elementary children, paid or volunteer
• Valid driver’s license, standard car insurance and safe driving record
Terms of Employment:
Temporary, part-time employment. Position to begin on August 31 and end on June 11,2010 . After School Program staff will not be required to work on days that Johnson Elementary School is not in session. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 3:30-6:30 PM. $9/hr. The program is located at Johnson Elementary School of the Arts, 355 18th Street SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Employee will submit an application for the Child Protection Safety Program.
