Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Student Support Worker will assist elementary students in a before school program, STARS, at Johnson School of the Arts.
1. Provide positive leadership and supervision to 1st -5th Grade elementary students during before school literacy program.
2. Lead a variety of small group reading activities designed by classroom teacher.
3. Assist students with homework and reading.
4. Contribute to providing a safe and positive learning environment for students.
5. Share comments and concerns about program progress with Program Director.
Requirements:
• High school diploma
• Prefer CPR and First Aid Certification
• 2 or more years worth of experience working with elementary children, paid or volunteer
• Valid driver’s license, standard car insurance and safe driving record
• Must be available M-F 7:30-8:30am during school year on days that school is in session.
Terms of Employment:
Temporary, part-time employment. Position to begin on August 31 and end as late as June 11 (snow days). Before School Program staff will not work on days that Johnson Elementary School is not in session. The program is located at Johnson Elementary School of the Arts, 355 18th Street SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Employee will submit an application for the Child Protection Safety Program. Salary $9 per hour.
