Cedar Rapids After School Alliance

The Cedar Rapids Afterschool Alliance champions quality out-of-school programs through policy development, resource coordination, and broad communication.

The Linn County Extension 4-H Youth Program is a community partner with the Cedar Rapids Afterschool Alliance.  The Alliance is comprised of after school professionals, schools, youth serving agencies, and several community members engaged in bringing an awareness of the need for safe and engaging places for school age youth during the times of the year when school is not in session – such as summer vacation, no school days, early dismissal, and cancelled days due to weather conditions.

Youth who participate in quality programs are more likely to have improved grades, better social skills, and increased physical fitness.  Research has shown that parents who don’t have secure after school plans were less productive at work after 3:00 pm.

Currently, the Alliance is studying the need for programs as well as staffing patterns with sites.  Please share your views, completing only one of the surveys below.  The parent survey is focused on those with school age youth.  The staff survey is directed at those who work directly with school age youth, and have opinions about needs of after school staff.

Thank you in advanced for your responses.  Results from the surveys will give direction for program efforts and securing of additional resources for families
