The Lee County Extension Council  traveled to the Stork's Nest in Fort Madison for their regular council meeting in April.  The Extension Council has provided support in establishing and maintaining a Stork's Nest in both Fort Madison and Keokuk.  The Stork’s Nest is an educational incentive program designed to promote pre-natal and post-natal care for parents and their children.  Participants earn points by attending meetings and doing other childcare related activities, then use the points to purchase diapers and other items for their babies from the Stork's Nest Store.

In Fort Madison, the group meets every Monday at the Madison Baptist Church beginning at 4:30 pm with a parent education program, followed at 5:30 pm with a young parent support group.  In Keokuk, the group meets every Tuesday evening at the Evangelical Free Church starting at 4:30 pm.  For more information on the Stork’s Nest contact the Lee County Extension Office.
