Lee County 4-H youth showed livestock and static exhibits during the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, August 8th through 18th. Congratulations to all those who showed and represented Lee County 4-H at the state level. Here are the Lee County results from the fair.

Darbee Wellman, Agriculturalist for ISU Extension and Outreach in Henry and Lee counties has been named the 2014 National Winner of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Communication Award in the Audio Recording category. She was the only national communications winner selected from the state of Iowa for 2014.

As part of the 2014 STEM Academy, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Lee County held “RoboTech” on June 26th at the Fort Madison Public Library. This camp gave students who have completed sixth or seventh grade the opportunity to receive hands-on experience in engineering, computer programming, and robotics.

Bob Dodds, Regional Director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, was among three Iowans recognized and presented with the Meritorious Service Award during the Iowa Horticulture Society Annual Meeting on November 15th in Ames. The award is based on contributions to horticulture, demonstrated leadership ability, and contributions beyond the usual expectations of volunteer service or position responsibilities.
