Keokuk County 4-H Awards Night
The Keokuk County Youth Council, along with the Keokuk County Extension Staff held a Family Fun Awards Night on Saturday, November 23, at the Keokuk County Expo Fairgrounds. The event was held to recognize 4-H’ers and 4-H leaders for their hard work throughout the year, as well as their years of service.
The evening started with Riverside 4-H Club Member, Khloe Snakenberg, singing the National Anthem. Club leader service certificates and pins were awarded to the following leaders for their years of service milestones: Sharon Fritchen- 30 years, Bonnie Clubb- 10 years, Heather Bombei, and Christy Gambell both serving 5 years. Donna Decker of Sigourney received the 2013 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame Award for Keokuk County, and Donna was also acknowledged for her 33 years of service with Keokuk County Extension and Outreach.
Outstanding Senior Award went to Rachel Wonderlich of the Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club. Outstanding Intermediate and Intermediate Citizenship Awards were given to Audrey Grove of the Liberty Leaders 4-H club. Outstanding First Year Member Award was received by Gracie Baetsle of the Lafayette Feeders 4-H Club. Paige Baetsle of the Lafayette Feeders 4-H club received the Senior Merit Award. Leadership Award for the Intermediate division went to Grace Shemanski of the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club, and the Senior Leadership Award was given to Rachel Wonderlich of the Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club. Brady Millikin of Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club was awarded the Citizenship Award for the Junior Division, and Adam Grove was awarded the Senior Citizenship Award, member of the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club. The Ak-Sar-Ben Award was received by Gretchen Greiner of the Lafayette Feeders 4-H Club.
Nathan Fritchen, Keokuk County Farm Bureau member, presented the top Club Communication awards for 2013 to the following clubs. Bridget Fritchen of the Patriotic Panthers received 1st place, Grace Shemanski of the Liberty leaders Club and Trevor Clemens of the Riverside 4-H Club tied for second place.
Herdsman ship Awards sponsored and given by the Keokuk County Expo Board were received by the following: Bucket Bottle Calf/Lamb -Brayden Mikesell of the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club, Beef- Clay Harper of the Riverside 4-H Club, Swine-Garrett Greiner of the Lafayette Feeders 4-H Club, Goat/Sheep/Dairy went to Trevor Clemens of the Riverside 4-H Club, and Small Animals - Shae Oostra of the Patriotic Panthers 4-H.
