2014 Summer Day Camps

Summer Camps

Summer is quickly approaching! The Keokuk County Extension Office is offering summer day camps for kindergarten-6th grade students. Join in on all the fun this summer!

Kindergarten-3rd Grade (grade completed)

“Oceans of Fun”- June 19th and 20th from 9:00 A.M.-NOON
Explore the wonders of the oceans and many things that live in them. Build beaches, boats and water landscapes. Work to clean water pollution and play with some sink or swim experiments.
“Fizz, Bubble, Goo”-July 29th and 30th from 9:00 A.M.-NOON
Come experiment with us as we explore science and make things FIZZ, BUBBLE, and GOO! What makes Alka Seltzer fizz and how can baking soda and vinegar fill a balloon? Can you really make homemade SLIME? All of your questions answered at this hands on experiment day! Clothes may get messy!

4th Grade-6th Grade:

“Go Green!”-July 1st from 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.
(Please bring a sack lunch, snacks will be provided)
If you are looking for fun ways to learn about how to save our environment and how to turn trash into treasures, this camp is for you! We will be learning how to make a wind chime out of old unwanted kitchen utensils, learn how to make a compost box, and learn about how long it takes for trash to decompose.
“Grossology”-July 25th from 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.
(Please bring a sack lunch, snacks will be provided)
Most of the time you don’t find your own smells, scabs, and oozes too disgusting. It is usually the same stuff on someone else’s body that’s really gross. The reasons for the ickiness are identical whether it’s you, your uncle or the kid down the street. So as a beginning grossologist, you will find out a lot of gross things about everyone!
If you are in need of a registration form you can click here or pick one up at the Extension Office. Registration Forms are due June 13th.
All camps are being held at the Keokuk County Extension Office (Expo Fair Grounds) and are $10.00 each. These camps also have a 20 camper limit. Save your spot for your favorite camps today! We can’t wait for you to join us this summer! If you have any questions or concerns you may contact the Keokuk County Extension office at (641) 622.2680 or stop by our office 400 220th Avenue, Suite A-Sigourney.
