Tulips

Tulips may bring thoughts of warm weather, spring, new life -- even a sense of renewal. But to enjoy tulips in spring, the best time to act is now. Tulips and other spring-flowering bulbs should be planted in October, giving them enough time to establish themselves for spring growth.

Both were on the Keokuk County 4-H Council but at different times.  In that role they were a part of starting “area” 4-H activities with the help of David Pace, the County    4-H Youth Assistant. They formally met at State 4-H Leadership camp in 1965, 49 years ago.

4-H Judging

Join the ranks of 4-H judges by attending a 4-H Judges Training on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Iowa State University Extension & Outreach will be holding training for adults interested in becoming a 4-H judge.  Participants will learn from Iowa State University Extension 4-H staff as well as experienced 4-H judges about how to how to evaluate, educate and encourage youth at county fairs.

We will be offering the 16-week on-line course on "Transitioning to Organic Agriculture" beginning on Tuesday, August 26, from 6 to 9 PM, and every Tuesday night through December 2. The cost is $50/person for all 16 sessions
