The inaugural Iowa Small Farms Conference is scheduled for February 13, 2016 in Ames, Iowa.  Keynote speaker Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms will be featured along with a wide variety of educational options, a trade show, lunch and giveaways.

January 14, 2016

Paul Crawford has joined Iowa State University Extension and Outreach as the regional director serving Benton, Jones and Linn counties effective January 2016. Crawford also will serve as director of the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Linn County located in Cedar Rapids, his primary office.

January 7, 2016

Once again the Jones County Master Gardeners are sponsoring an annual scholarship of $200 for a Jones County high school senior enrolling in an accredited horticulture-related college program such as forestry, turfgrass management, nursery/landscaping operations, parks and natural resources, floriculture, entomology, botany or other related majors. Deadline is March 1st, 2016.

The Jones County Master Gardeners are hosting this program on “The World of Orchids” presented by Nile Dusdieker, certified American Orchid Society member and judge on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at 1 pm at the Youth Development Center in Monticello (fairgrounds).
