Interested in Joining Jones County 4-H?

 

Jones County enrollment period is September 15th to May 15th!     Jones County 4-H is open to all youth in grades 4 - 12!

Contact - Club leaders are happy to answer any questions you have about their club. They can tell you about their club meeting times & locations, special club rules, activities and interests. Jones County 4-H Club Leader contact and meeting information is available here.
 
Enroll - Join a club & enroll in 4-H!!  Enrollment in 4-H is completed using 4honline. Here is a Help Sheet for New Members/Families enrolling in 4honline for the first time. Help for re-enrolling members is available too! Enrolling in 4honline tells the club leaders and the Extension that you have joined 4-H, what your interests are and other important information about you. 4honline is the primary method of communication used by the Extension office to keep you informed about important 4-H information. Be sure to chose project areas too! Learn about 4-H projects areas here.
 
Identify - All livestock and animals must be identified in 4holine.
 
Enter - All animals & livestock identified in 4honline must be entered on a fair entry form to be eligible to exhibit at the Jones County Fair and the Iowa State Fair.
 
Complete - Record your adventures and experiences - Complete your record book!

2015 Great Jones County Fair Book

  • Jones County Extension and Outreach and the Jones County Conservation board are offering "Outdoor Wondercation"
  • 4th - 12th grade youth
  • "Canoeing Adventure"- MonMaq to Pictured Rocks or Central Park depending on river level - 6th grade and up- Date TBD, 2015
  • Snack provided. Pre-registration is required for each program. $10.00 materials fee for each program. The fee for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the 4-H Youth Development Extension Program.

The Animal Science Roundup held in conjunction with the State 4-H & Youth Conference in Ames, June 30th thru July 2nd has a new online only registration process. Only 20 applicants per specie (Beef, Dairy Cattle, Horse, Sheep, Swine) will be accepted. Registration deadline is March 1, 2015. Youth not chosen to participate in the Animal Science Roundup can still participate in the State Youth Conference.

Holly Hall has been hired as the new Jones County Extension Director for Jones County ISU Extension and Outreach, office located at 800 N Maple Street in Monticello, according to Lisa Rickels, Extension Council Chair. Holly Hall began her duties on Monday, January 5th , 2015 and will replace current Director, Joe Yedlik when he retires at the end of January.
