Master Gardeners are a dedicated group of trained volunteers willing to share their horticulture knowledge, a love of gardening, an enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to helping others. Jones county residents interested in becoming a Master Gardener; please contact the Jones County Extension office at 319-465-3224 for an application. Applications are due Friday, August 29th by 4 pm for the fall training classes.

Joy Adams from Monticello, Iowa was bless with two cornea transplants at the University of Iowa in 2008. She is forever grateful! In gratitude for receiving the Gift of Sight twice, Joy wanted to honor both of her cornea donors and also thank the Iowa lions Eye Bank, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Lions Clubs of Iowa in a very special way.  Within her acres of magnificent hosta gardens, she developed and grew a unique seedling hosta plant which was then selected, named and nationally registered with the American Hosta Society as Host 'Gift of Sight' .
