Jones County Extension & Outreach plans to provide training to high school youth interested in learning more about crop scouting and principles of Integrated Pest Management for corn and soybeans.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Jones County is seeking temporary summer staff positions. The staff will conduct educational activities for youth in communities of Jones County and assist with summer operations of the Jones County Extension Office.

  • "Exploring Animal Tracks & Signs" & "Snowshoeing and Winter Survival" - Youth Development Center, Monticello, IA  - Saturday, March 7, 2015
  • "Intro to Geocaching" - Youth Development Center, Monticello, IA  - Saturday, April 11, 2015
  • "Intro to Rock Climbing & Caving" - Pictured Rocks - May, TBD 2015 - 6th Grade and up
  • "Canoeing Adventure"- MonMaq to Pictured Rocks or Central Park depending on river level - 6th grade and up- Saturday, June 13, 2015
  • Snack provided.
  • Pre-registration is required for each program. Space is limited. There is a $10.00 registration fee for each program offered. The fee for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the 4-H Youth Development Extension Program.

  • Every June, 1000 teenagers converge on the Iowa State University campus for 3 days of speakers, workshops, mixers, dances, a banquet, and community service activities. If you've completed 8th-12th grade, you're eligible to attend. Non-4-H members are welcome.

  • Provides opportunities for youth to demonstrate, learn and apply project and communication skills. Every year the 4-H Exhibits Building features well over 3,000 exhibits and Livestock shows engage more than ## youth.

  • Youth and teens can discover opportunities to be recognized for personal growth, project learning, leadership and citizenship. 

  • A partner and leader in providing positive youth development through out-of-school programming. Outreach priorities include curriculum development, staff training, and partnership development.
