Ways
to Say "Thank You!"
A Special
Section for Parents, Guardians and Kids. How can you let your Big
Brothers and Sisters know that you appreciate
them? Here’s a list of ideas to get you started.
- Make a list of things you like about
your Big and
give it to him
Examples:
You are nice.
You have a funny laugh.
You make good spaghetti.
I like your clothes.
You are a good friend.
- Draw a picture of you and your Big doing
one of your
favorite activities and make sure you sign your name
- Bake a treat for your Big
- Invite your Big to have dinner with your
family
- Next time you rent a movie, let your Big
choose which
one
- Give your Big a list of 10 free
activities that you’d
like to try
Examples:
Playing basketball at the Rec Center
Walking at Hickory Hill
Going to the fountain in downtown Iowa City
Walking the path in North Liberty
Going to the library
Playing Frisbee
Hanging out at the mall and JUST window shopping
Going to the Children’s Museum
- Help your Big while she is doing a
chore.
Examples:

Wash the dishes
- Tell your Big a story about a time when
you were
feeling sad and she cheered you up
- Ask your Big to tell you about what he
did at work or
school that day
- Remember to say “Thank you” after EVERY
visit—no
forgetting!
- Talk to your Big about something you
have learned
from her or him
Examples:
He
helped you learn about fractions.
She taught you how to throw the ball
farther.
She helped you pick your favorite color
of nail polish.
He showed you new ways to deal with
feeling angry.
He taught you how to play a really cool
card game.
You
never knew that it was fun to go to the library until you started
hanging out there with her.
