our many special events.

to become volunteers.

gifts with matching corporate contributions.

Spotlight

The UICCU has been
involved with BBBS for
about 15 years. The partnership started out with a corporate
sponsorship for Bowl for Kids' Sake. That same year, UICCU staff made
up six teams to raise funds for Bowl for Kids' Sake. In 2007, the UICCU
had 14 teams and raised over $13,000.00 for BBBS. The have also had a
staff member serve on the board of directors continuously since that
time. UICCU staff is also involved in the School Buddies program.
Jean Knepper,
First
Vice-President/Public Relations & Administration of UICCU,
initiated this partnership and continues to maintain it today. She
says, "Big Brothers Big Sisters is a wonderful program that fills a
need in this community ... there is not a better program around that
addresses the needs of a young child in need of a friend (and mentor)."
Doug Sanders is a
current board member and School Buddy from the UICCU. Doug reports,
"Volunteering to 'help' somebody else really helps you. I think I have
probably gotten at least as much if not more enjoyment and more out of
School Buddies emotionally than my buddy did." |
