Scholarship Information for Seniors

Jefferson County Extension Council offers two (2) $250 scholarships to eligible seniors each spring.  The winning applicant will receive the funds and are to be applied to their expenses with any Accredited College, Community College or Univeristy of choice. The applicant must be a current year graduate and an active Jefferson County 4-H member, an active community member and plan to further their education within one (1) year of graduation. The applicant must also complete a 250-500 word essay answering five (5) questions listed on their scholarship application.  Also with the application, the applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendations from non-relatives explaining why they would recommend the applicant for the award. These individuals may be but are not limited to 4-H leaders, 4-H youth committee members, teachers, community leaders or other organizational leaders.

Jefferson County 4-H Youth Committee Scholarship Application
 
The Jefferson County 4-H Horse Club will be awarding one (1) $500 scholarship to be applied toward the winning applicant’s expenses at any Accredited College, Community College or University of choice. The applicant must be a current year graduate, an active Jefferson County 4-H or FFA member and horse exhibitor, and plan to further their education in one of the following areas: Equine Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, or Agricultural Studies.
Please note- A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving applicant each year, for a total of 4 years. If in a given year, there are no applicants for this scholarship, the funds will be saved for the next year. However, once 4 scholarships have been awarded, this scholarship will cease to be awarded.
Jefferson County 4-H Horse Club Scholarship Application
 


Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association is pleased to continue to offer one $500 Cattlemen Scholarship for a Jefferson County graduating high school student entering an institution of higher education of recipient’s choice.  Applicant must be a senior student residing in Jefferson County or actively participating in the Youth Beef Team, and currently engaged in an agricultural related activity.  Applicants must submit high school transcripts and 3 references along with a professionally completed application form. 
Applications may be obtained from a high school counselor OR your Jefferson County Extension Office at 2606 West Burlington, Fairfield, Iowa.  Application deadline is April 15, 2015 and completed application form must be returned to your school counselor or Jefferson County Extension Office, or submitted online.
Scholarship will awarded at the winning student’s school scholarship award night.
Criteria for Selection will be based on the following:

●    20%  Extra-Curricular Activities/Reference Information
●    15%  Financial Need
●    5%    Professional Appearance of Application
●    40%  Essay Content
