Vista Hardware Requirements

Hardware Requirements for Upgrading to Vista

Your computer should meet or exceed the following specifications for a successful upgrade:

  • DVD reader
  • 1 GB memory (RAM)
  • 25 GB available hard drive space
  • 2 GHz processor (CPU)
A computer that meets these minimum standards will be able to run Windows Vista but may not be Windows Aero capable.

If you are unsure if your hardware and software will support Vista you may wish to run Microsoft's Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to check for issues. IT Hotline staff can help you review the results.
