Ordering PDAs

When selecting a PDA look for a device that runs the Windows Mobile 6 operating system. Windows Mobile OS provides you with the best experience when synchronizing Exchange data—email, calendar, contacts and tasks. With integrated wireless (aka wi-fi), you can synchronize over wireless networks in lieu of (or in addition to) cradling the PDA for enhanced mobility.

The HP iPAQ line is perhaps the best known and most widely used Windows Mobile PDA line. The iPAQ 110 and 210 are both great choices. The iPAQ 110 starts around $219 with educational discounts, while the 210 is around $400. The 110 will suffice for most users--it is more powerful and less expensive than our previous recommendation--but those who anticipate running additional applications on their PDA should consider the 210.

NOTE:  If you buy a Palm device it must run Windows Mobile 6 operating system or higher. Hotsync is not compatible with Exchange and EIT will not be able to support you.

You may order these or other devices directly through the vendor's higher education online store. For assistance please contact extorders@iastate.edu.
