When selecting a PDA look for a device that runs the Windows Mobile 6 operating system. Windows Mobile OS provides you with the best experience when synchronizing Exchange data—email, calendar, contacts and tasks. With integrated wireless (aka wi-fi), you can synchronize over wireless networks in lieu of (or in addition to) cradling the PDA for enhanced mobility.
The HP iPAQ line is perhaps the best known and most widely used Windows Mobile PDA line. The iPAQ 111 and 211 are both great choices. The iPAQ 111 starts around $275 with educational discounts, while the 211 is estimated to be somewhere near $400. The 111 will suffice for most users--it is more powerful and less expensive than our previous recommendation--but those who anticipate running additional applications on their PDA should consider the 211.
