Many organizations sponsor conferences and workshops on environmental education in Iowa and throughout the country. These workshops feature presentaions on innovative teaching techniques, new environmental education curricula, information about the environment, conservation issues and more. Contact the individual listed for more information about specific workshops, or email the WILD/PLT coordinator to receive email notification of upcoming training opportunities. At the workshop, participants will be introduced to several activities as well as to suggested teaching techniques, ideas for using the activities, and philosophies behind the programs. WORKSHOPS: Before white man arrived, Iowa was almost all prairie. Only about one percent remains. To understand about the loss and restoration of prairie, we must learn about the prairie ecology, investigate and understand the issues involved, then explore actions to resolve the issues. Workshops will prepare teachers to enable students to understand the ecology, issues, and action of establishing roadside and trail prairies.
