Membership Benefits

Being a member if the Iowa Conservation Education Coalition entitles you to take advantage of our membership benefits. A broad range of benefits is available to our members.

General Membership Benefits

  • EE Information: Through the newsletter, the website, and the ICEC Update List Serve (if you choose to sign up for it), you will receive up-to-date information on workshops and conferences, grants, resources, and other important news in the field of environmental education
  • Professional Development: You will receive registration to Winter Solstice, our annual educator’s workshop, at a discounted price. In addition, you will have the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills by serving on a committee or task force.
  • Networking: Meet new friends, rejuvenate, and gather new ideas through meeting other ICEC members at Winter Solstice or other ICEC-sponsored events
  • Funds: Members may apply for ICEC grants and scholarships [link below] as well as for other ICEC financial sponsored programs
  • Recognition: ICEC, in cooperation with the Iowa Association of Naturalists, sponsors a Conservation Education Awards Program. Earn recognition for your services to the field of EE!
  • The opportunity to make a difference! Joining ICEC is a way for you to support the fundamentals of environmental education and for you to make an impact on the state level.

Other membership benefits include invitations to special events, such as Regional Field Days; an opportunity to submit articles and information to the newsletter; voting privileges for the ExCom and at the Annual Meeting; and benefits gained through ICEC’s partnerships with other organizations.

Student Memberships

Students, are you wondering how all membership can help you? Well, for a discounted fee, you gain the opportunities to:

  • Gain Professional Skills: attend Winter Solstice for some great skills enhancement! Discover more about our natural history, learn about creating programs and get program ideas, and meet with professionals in the field with whom you can get advice from.
  • Augment your resume: Being a part of a professional organization enhances your resume. In addition, by serving on a committee you gain skills that potential employers will look favorably on.
  • Scholarships: As a member, you may be eligible for the Chris Holt Scholarship to help fund a formal outdoor experience. In addition, future teachers may receive discounts on their Winter Solstice registrations.
  • Networking: As they say in the job industry, sometimes it’s not what you know but who you know.
  • Free resources: ICEC’s website is one source for more information about EE in Iowa. In addition, take-home resources are usually abundant at Winter Solstice.
