Iowans need to
become aware of green building practices that have been done with
great success in Iowa. The Green Schools & Buildings Project
has equipped citizen board members with proof that green building
practices have worked in Iowa and it is worth the effort to do the
right thing. Brief and interesting case studies of green public
buildings and people enjoying them was developed and made available
through websites of cooperating agencies. The website information
has been publicized through newsletters and other creative means that
have emerged as the project has proceeded. Targeted audiences
included all citizen boards and staff who oversee schools, libraries,
churches, theatres, museums, city buildings and others. This
project has worked synergistically with the IDNR Waste Management
by providing information for them and is reaching a different and
important target audience.
