March 24, 2015. Young farmers are invited to a Beginning Farmer Workshop hosted by the USDA Farm Service Agency, the Iowa Agriculture Development Division and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on March 24 at the IHCC- Bioprocessing Center located near Cargill in Eddyville, IA. Loan programs, young farmer tax incentives and other financial considerations will be discussed. For more information and to register see the flyer.
September 25, 2014. A SE Iowa BYLPN group met September 25, 2014 for a beef facilities tour. The group toured three southern Iowa farms and had dinner at the Marion County Extension Office. See the program brochure for more information.
June 23, 2014. The group met at the Marion County Extension Office and discussed topics of livestock housing options and cash flow, beginning farmer loan programs and the Farm Bill.
Thursday, February 20, 2014, 6 p.m. Activity Building, Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield. Jefferson County Cattlemen hosted a program on obtaining loans from government agencies. Speakers included Steve Ferguson of the Iowa Agricultural Development Authority and Dawn Stewart of the USDA. Dinner was provided by iowa State Bank.
