March 25, 2014 . The peer group will meet at the Clinton County Extension office in DeWitt.The topic will be monitoring your environmental impact and Angie Rieck-Hinz of Iowa State University will be the featured speaker. The Clinton County Farm Bureau young farmers will provide dinner.
The group met on February 17, 2014. The speakers were Drs. Trevor Schwartz and Cole Burrack, from the Monticello Vet Clinic, talking on calving management and preparation.
This group met Monday, August 26 at the Scott Grantz farm near Bryant. Saw a new slatted deep-pit monoslope finisher and a modified deep bedded grower. Heard from ISU Extension ag engineer Greg Brenneman on manure value and Innovative Ag's Dave Rueber on closeout comparisons. The 6 p.m. dinner was provided by the Clinton County Cattlemen. Friends were welcome who were interested in the topics or the east Iowa group. Address is 3793 170th St, Bryant. Directions: Go 5 m. The peer group met at the Jackson County Extension Office with dinner and “Accessing Capital” presentations by Steve Ferguson, Iowa Ag Development Authority; Craig Thines, USDA Farm Loan Program; Farm Credit Services of America, Manchester office; Rick Prull, Bellevue State Bank, Bellevue; and Nathan Katzer, Farm Business Development Manager, Iowa Farm Bureau. Purpose of the group is to meet about four times per year to improve the profitability and management of young and beginning livestock producers.
