Conservation Station

Conservation Station

Iowa Learning Farms presents the Conservation Station—a mobile learning center that educates audiences of all ages on different conservation aspects.

The back of the Conservation Station houses a rainfall simulator demonstrating the effects of rainfall on undisturbed soils with a variety of soil covers and impervious and porous surfaces. The front part of the Conservation Station is a learning center with interchangeable learning modules covering topics such as soil, water, and wetlands. There are age-appropriate modules for grade school, middle school, and high school students.  The Conservation Station is fully staffed by Iowa Learning Farms personnel and is available for single-day events.  We are unable to fulfill multi-day requests at this time.

Lil' CS

The Lil' Conservation Station is similar to its larger counterpart and travels the state as well. This trailer houses a similar rainfall simulator demonstration and enables us to attend additional events around the state.  The Lil' CS is available for single-day events (fully staffed) or may be checked out for multi-day events.

The Conservation Station may be able to be part of your event at no charge. Complete the Conservation Station Request Form or complete the Online Form and email it to astaudt@iastate.edu. Call 515-294-8912 for questions regarding your request.  The ILF staff reserves the right to select which trailer will be at your event.

View an informational video about the Conservation Station and its educational opportunities offered on ILF's YouTube channel.
