Time to Register for Iowa Local Food Conference
AMES, Iowa – Iowans will have a chance to form partnerships and network with other local food enthusiasts at an upcoming conference, “Road Map for Resilience: Empowering Iowa’s Local Food Economy.”
Early-bird registration at a discounted rate of $75 per person (or $25 for students) closes this Friday, March 8. The conference, coordinated by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will take place at the ISU Scheman Building on March 19-20. Registrations at a higher rate will be accepted up to and including the first day of the conference.
John O’Sullivan, director of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems and a leader of the North Carolina 10% Campaign, will give the keynote address. Breakout sessions will follow, each led by national experts in business incentives, beginning and minority farmers, and food incentives. The sessions will also include local storytellers who will share insights from successful projects.
Attendees will have opportunities to network, begin new projects and share ideas toward the goal of fostering a vibrant campaign for local foods in Iowa. Locally produced meals are provided.
