RE-ENROLLMENT:

 
Re-enrollment happens once every 4-H year for 4-H members that were enrolled the previous year.  Members may re-enroll anytime between September 16th and May 15th.  Those who enroll by December 1st receive any available county assistance toward enrollment fees.  If you have any questions or profile login problems, please contact the Extension Office at (563)547-3001.

This year’s Mighty Howard County Fair will happen from June 23-29, 2014 at the fairgrounds in Cresco.

AWARDS

 
AWARD APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
All record-book awards must be completed and turned in by the designated date (September 1 or the next business day after September 1).  All materials must be turned in together and the award application form must be completed and turned in with record book.  Those senior 4-Hers applying for overall senior achievement awards must complete the required interview for consideration.

 COUNTY 4-H COUNCIL

Those current 4-H youth interested in participating on the County 4-H Council must apply and complete the required interview.  Those eligible to apply are those youth who are currently in grade 8th-11th and will be in grade 9th-12th during the next school year.  The County 4-H Council is a leadership council that assists in planning and implementation of county events held throughout the 4-H year.  Those who complete the application process will be scheduled for an interview in May and receive a letter with their scheduled interview time.

4-H AWARDS AND RECORD-KEEPING

 FSQA

FSQA training is required for any youth planning on exhibiting any type of animal at the Mighty Howard County fair.  Junior 4-H members in grades 4th- 6th are required to attend a face-to-face training.  Those members in grades 7th- 12th are eligible to complete a test-out option.  Those who pass the test option are not required to re-test or attend training every year.
AVAILABLE TRAINING DATES:
  • Howard County FSQA Training  date will be announced Spring of 2015
  • Test-Out Appointments are available for Intermediates (Grade 7-9) and Seniors (Grades 10-12) any date after February 1st.

Howard County 4-H'ers participated in Citizenship Washington Focus Trip recently. Those that participated in the wreath presented at the Tomb of the Unknown solder were Dylan Aschenbremmer, Kayla Hruska, Katelyn Leiran and Abraham Schmitt.

Money Smart Week was celebrated locally with an essay contest sponsored by Howard County Extension and Outreach and C US Bank of Cresco for grades 7-11.

Lowell and Marge Dohlman were inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the Iowa State Fair on August17.

The 4-H and Youth Committee along with the 4-H Alumni Committee is working on a first ever Howard County 4-H Cookbook.
