Howard and Jane Goldsworthy Inducted into 4-H Hall of Fame

Howard and Jane Goldsworthy were inducted into the 2012 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, Aug. 19.   Eighty-seven Iowa countiesparticipated this year and selected 114 inductees for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H. Inductees or their surviving family members will be presented a certificate by the Iowa 4-H Foundation as they are introduced on stage.   Howard and Jane Goldsworthy have been dedicated 4-H volunteers and "cheerleaders" for more than 30 years. They were 6-year members of the Howard County 4-H Youth Committee. Howard and Jane have been advocates of 4-H, and the positive self-confidence 4-H instills in youth and encouraged the idea of "Learning By Doing". Jane served as a 4-H leader and assistant to the Cresco Merrymakers 4-H'ers for over 15 years and has been a 5 county 4-H judge for over 12 years with much help and support from Howard. Howard and Jane have two daughters Gretta and Gena. Both daughters were active members of the Howard County 4-H Program and were participants in state 4-H programs as well. The couple are proud grandparents to 4 grandchildren.
Counties select inductees for their exceptional work in contributing to the lives of 4-H members and the overall 4-H program. The inductees have demonstrated dedication, encouragement, commitment and guidance to Iowa’s 4-H’ers through the years.  The couple carries on the pledge of 4-H in their retirement years. They enjoy wintering in Arizona and traveling and learning about unusual places all over the world, serving their church and community, and spending time with family and friends.The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H.
