4-H and FFA Beef Show Results
2014 4-H and FFA BEEF SHOW
The 2014 4-H and FFA Beef Show was held at the Howard County Fair on Saturday, June 28, 2014. The judge for the show was Brad chapman from Tipton, Iowa.
Sydney Klimesh of the Space Age Farmers 4-H Club was named the Champion Market Heifer. The trophy for this was sponsored by Northland Classic. Reserve Champion Market Heifer trophy sponsored by Northland Class was won by Madison Drilling. Amber Hinck also showed a market heifer and received a blue.
Dairy Steers were shown by Morgan Drilling, blue; Tyler Felper, blue; Kayleigh Hauber, blue; Madison Drilling, blue; Laine Fitzgerald, blue, Ben Hron, blue; and Walker Sobolik, blue.Bill and Angie Mahr Farms sponsored the Champion Dairy Steer trophy which went to Kayleigh Hauber. Reserve champion dairy steer went to Tyler Felper.
Market Steers were shown by Madison Drilling,blue; Madison Fitzgerald, blue; Austin Haskovec, blue; Karissa Stika, blue; Rachel Stika, blue; Taylor Haskovec, blue; Logan Johnson, two blues; Erin Ryan, blue. Champion Market Steer trophy sponsored by Adams’ Angus went to Austin Haskovec. Reserve Market Steer trophy sponsored by Husky’s Liquid Service went to Taylor Haskovec.
The Grand Champion Beef trophy sponsored by Windrigde implement went to Sydney Klimesh. Reserve Champion Beef was won by Taylor Haskovec.and trophy was sponsored by People’s Savings Bank of Elma.
Homegrown Beef class participants were Taylor Haskovec, blue; Madison Drilling, two blues. Trophy for champion homegrown beef sponsored by the Howard County Cattleman was won by Taylor Haskovec.
Purebred one year to 30 month Shorthorns were shown by Taylor Haskovec and Ashton Howe. Both received blues. Taylor Haskovec was named the Top Individual Shorthorn in this class.
Tessa Anderson received a blue for her one year to 30 months Angus.
Purebred Hereford cow with calf at side was shown by Dalton Martinek and received a blue.
Purebred Simmental one year to 30 months were shown by Hope Dohlman, blue; Ethan Dohlman, blue; Natalie Knobloch, blue. Purebred Simmental heifer with calf at side was shown by Hope Dohlman and received a blue. Hope Dohlman was named the Top Individual Simmental.
Hope Dohlman was named the Top Overall Purebred and reserve was Tessa Anderson.
Commercial Breeding Heifers one year to 30 months were shown by Madison Fitzgerald, blue; Brady Foster, blue; Jacob Knutson, blue; Jared Knutson, blue; Hope Dohlman, blue; Ethan Govern, blue; Rachel Stika, blue; Laine Fitzgerald, blue; Alex Hauber, blue; Walker Sobolik, blue; Kandise Hauber, blue; Kayleigh Hauber, blue; Devin Hauber, blue. Top commercial breeding heifer one year to 30 months was won by Ethan Govern and Reserve to Hope Dohlman.
Commercial Heifer with calf at side was shown by Samantha Bigalk, blue.
Commercial Breeding Cow with Calf at Side were shown by: Jacob Knutson, blue; Jared Knutson, blue; Sawyer Peckham, two blue; Stone Peckham, blue. The top commercial breeding cow with calf was won by Sawyer Peckham.
Top Commercial Breed Heifer award went to Ethan Govern. Reserve Commercial Breeding Heifer to Hope Dohlman.
Grand Champion Breeding Heifer Trophy sponsored by Howard County Cattlemen went to Ethan Govern. Reserve champion breeding heifer trophy sponsored by Keith Klimesh went to Hope Dohlman.
Rate of Gain trophy sponsored by the Howard County Cattlemen was won by Laine Fitzgerald with her animal having a 4.56 lb. per day gain.
The Howard County 4-H Alumni sponsored a Celebrity Beef showmanship class. Participant sponsors included Vic and Sharla Fencl; Cray Insurance, Oak Knob Guernsey’s, Wacha Insurance Agency, Jay & Becky Dohlman, Jesse Dohlman. The winner of the Celebrity Beef Showmanship was Carmen Dohlman.
Senior Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Genex CRI, Bev Meade was won by Sydney Klimesh.
Junior Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Farmer’s Mill was won by Ethan Govern.
Winner’s Class Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Windridge Implement was won by Sydney Klimesh.
