2014 Howard County Fair 4-H and FFA Swine Show
The 2014 4-H and FFA Swine Show was held on Friday, June 27 at the Howard County Fair. Scott Frye from Independence was the judge for the morning. There were 5 exhibitors with 27 weighed in and scanned at fair weigh-in on June 24. In March there were 6 members weighed in 36 hogs. The classes are based on beginning weights. Mark Storlie, Iowa State University Extension Swine Field Specialist did the organization of data.
Market Barrow class participants were:
Brooke Bodermann, two blues; Brynn Bodermann, two blues; Blair Bodermann, two blues; Cole Hale, two blues; and Kaytlan Langreck, two blues.
Champion Market Barrow trophy sponsored by Farmer’s Mill was won by Kaytlan Langreck. Reserve champion market barrow was won by Cole Hale.
Market Gilt class participants were:
Brynn Bodermann, two blues; Brooke Bodermann, red and blue; Blair Bodermann, red and blue; Kaytlan Langreck, two blues; Cole Hale, two blues.
Champion Market Gilt trophy sponsored by Roger & Elaine Kleve was presented to Cole Hale. Reserve Champion Market Gilt was won by Kaytlan Langreck.
The Overall Champion Market Class Trophy sponsored by North Iowa Boar Stud was won by Cole Hale. Reserve champion market class winner was Kaytlan Langreck.
Pen of Three participants were Blair Bodermann, Brooke Bodermann, Brynn Bodermann, Cole Hale and Kaytlan Langreck, all receiving blues.
Champion Pen of Three trophy sponsored by Sovereign Farms was won by Cole Hale. Reserve Champion Pen of Three was Kaytlan Langreck.
Rate of Gain Barrow trophy sponsored by Dave Malek Registered Chester Whites was won by Cole Hale. Rate of Gain gilt trophy sponsored by Dave Malek Registered Chester Whites was won by Cole Hale.
Senior Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Randy Swestka was won by Blair Bodermann.
Winner’s Class Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Norsvin, USA was won by Katelyn Langreck.
