2012 4-H and FFA Sheep Show Results
The 2012 Howard County Sheep Show was held on Thursday, June 21. Corey Happel of Fairbank, Iowa was the official judge for the morning.
The Champion Market Lamb was shown by Sydney Klimesh of the Space Age Farmers 4-H Club. The trophy was sponsored by Howard County Farm Bureau Insurance. Sydney also won the Reserve Champion Market Lamb title.
Sydney Klimesh was awarded the Champion Pen of Three Lambs. The trophy for Champion Pen of Three was sponsored by McCarville Auction. Reserve Champion Pen of Three was shown by Abby Huhe, Crestwood FFA. Third place went to Judd Grover, Timberland Targeting. Other Pen of Three participants included Michael Lensch (2 pens), Kaylie Klimesh, Austin Klimesh, Kate Grover, and Levi Klimesh. All participants received blue ribbons.
Participants in the individual market lamb classes all received blue ribbons. They were as follows:
Group 1, Light weight market lambs, 80 to 112 pounds: Abby Huhe, two blues; Alexander Andera, blue; Amber Hinck, blue; Kaylie Klimesh, three blues; Judd Grover, blue; Austin Klimesh, two blues; Michael Lensch, two blues; Levi Klimesh, blue; and Sydney Klimesh, blue.
Group 2, Middle weight market lambs, 113 to 121 pounds: Michael Lensch, three blues; Kaylie Klimesh, two blues; Levi Klimesh, blue; Kate Grover, three blues; Sydney Klimesh, blue; and Abby Huhe, two blues.
Group 3, Heavy weight market lambs, 122 to 140 pounds: Austin Klimesh, two blues; Michael Lensch, blue; Sydney Klimesh, two blues; Levi Klimesh, two blues; Judd Grover, three blues; Abby Huhe, blue; Amber Hinck, blue; and Kate Grover, blue.
Rate of Gain trophy sponsored by Scheidel Farms was won by Michael Lensch, Saratoga 4-H with an average daily gain of 1.22.
Commercial ewes were shown by Austin Lewis, Levi Klimesh, Sydney Klimesh and Austin Klimesh. All received blue ribbons. Champion Commercial Ewe trophy was sponsored by Howard County Mutual Insurance Agency was awarded to Austin Lewis. Reserve champion commercial ewe was shown by Levi Klimesh.
Austin Lewis received a blue for the purebred Southdown ram under one year old.
Purebred Southdown ewes one to two years old shown by Austin Lewis received a blue. Kaytlan Langreck was awarded two blue ribbons for her two Purebred Suffolk Ewes under one year old. Austin Lewis received the Champion Purebred Ewe Overall trophy sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank. Kaytlan Langreck received Reserve Champion and third place.
Senior Showmanship winner of the trophy sponsored by Alum Line was Kate Grover. Junior Showmanship winner of the trophy sponsored by Featherlite was Erin Ryan. Winner’s class showmanship trophy sponsored by Lewis Southdowns was awarded to Sydney Klimesh.
