Partnering with Parents

Father and daughter

Are you a professional or volunteer who works with parents? Do you want to increase your knowledge and sharpen your skills in facilitating learning and support with parent? If yes, then you've come to the right place!

Strengthen your skills through recommended practices

Partnering with Parents consists of a series of training modules designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of parenting educators who work with parents in one-to-one and group settings. Supervisors and administrators of parenting education programs can also benefit from the Academy through increased understanding about selecting and evaluating parenting education programs, and the critical knowledge and skills that employees and volunteers need to have when working with parents.

The Academy is delivered online. The online series consists of 11 modules delivered completely online via Chat rooms, discussion boards, videostreams, eJournals, small group and individual assignments, and readings. Learners participate in each module over a two-week period.

 Module topics include:

  • The Journey of Parenting Education
  • Cultural Perspectives on Parenting
  • Parenting with Special Challenges
  • Exploring Child-rearing Strategies and Assessing Parenting Education Resources
  • Parent Learning in Small Groups
  • Understanding Child and Parent Development
  • Feeding Children and
    Physical Activities for Families
  • Guiding, Nurturing, and Motivating Children
  • Measuring Program Outcomes
  • Financial Stability and Family Well-being
  • Building Support for Yourself and Professional Development
