The Food Assistance Outreach Project focuses on helping Iowa families become aware of and access Food Assistance to help them purchase food for good health.

How we're involved

Family program specialists will deliver and train others to reach out to various populations to help them:

Older Adult Outreach

ISU Extension family program specialists partner to train volunteers to reach out to older adults to help them understand what Food Assistance is, how to apply, and how Food Assistance can help them purchase food for good health. Contacts: ISU Extension and Outreach staff members

Family Support Agency Staff (e.g., Head Start)

ISU Extension family program specialists will train agency staff in understanding what Food Assistance is and how it can help families with low income increase their financial resources for food.

Master Gardeners

Volunteer Master Gardeners in Woodbury County share information about FA with families who have low incomes and help them learn how to grow food. Contacts: Cynthia Haynes & Mimi Shanahan

 

Latino Families

Program Specialists in Henry and Louisa counties help Spanish speaking families learn what Food Assistance is and how it can help increase their financial resources for food.

Short Outreach Sessions
