Strengthening Skills in Family Development and Parenting Education

Iowa State University Extension to Families is offering a certificate in Family Development and Parenting Education in one location at the same time!

The Family Development Certification (FDCT) and Partnering with Parents (PWP) trainings will be offered in Des Moines, Iowa in Winter/Spring 2010. This combined training focuses on core competencies identified for family support workers, including those needed for parenting education.

You can earn...

  • a Family Development Certificate by participating in eight scheduled days of training,
  • a Parenting Education Certificate of Completion by participating in ten days of training, or
  • both by participating in 13 days of training.

 

Participation Options:

1. COMBINED Family Development Certification (FDCT) and Partnering with Parents (PWP)
Altoona, IA
Winter/Spring 2010 - February 23, 24; March 10, 11, 23, 24; April 6, 7, 20; May 4, 5, 18, 19; Please hold for snow dates:  March 30-31; April 13-14

Registration options:

  • Non-credit - for ISU Continuing Education Units/Certification: $1,000, or
  • Credit - for 5 ISU undergraduate (HDFS 493) or graduate (HDFS 593) credit hours and Certification: $500 plus tuition is billed

2. Family Development Certification Training (FDCT)
Altoona, IA
Winter/Spring 2010 - February 23, 24, March 10, 23, April 7, May 5, 18, 19 - Online registration now available!

Registration options:

  • Non-credit - for ISU Continuing Education Units/Certification: $600, or
  • Credit - for 3 ISU undergraduate (HDFS 493) or graduate (HDFS 593) credit hours and Certification: $300 plus tuition is billed

FDCT Online - Full series offered February 8 - May 28, 2010 completely online.  Online registration now available!


 

3. Partnering with Parents (PWP)
Altoona, IA
Winter/Spring 2010 - February 23, 24; March 10, 11, 24; April 6, 7, 20; May 4, 19

Registration options:

  • Non-credit - for ISU Continuing Education Units/Certification: $600, or
  • Credit - for 3 ISU undergraduate (HDFS 493) or graduate (HDFS 593) credit hours and Certification: $300 plus tuition is billed.
