Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes are most successful when they are available in local communities and offered on a continuing basis. Classes are taught by pairs of trained class leaders. As numbers of Iowa class leaders increase family caregivers have increasing access to the benefits of Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
Class leaders must be certified in order to plan and teach a class in Iowa. Certification follows a two and one-half day experiential training by master trainers. Master trainers are class leaders with teaching experience who have also completed additional two and one-half day training. Iowa State University Extension supports two master trainers and offers class leader training twice per year. When selecting leaders, review the class leader considerations (MS Word).
