History
One of the best things about the month of November is looking forward to the Thanksgiving pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread! But have you ever wondered what made the pumpkin such a tradition during the Thanksgiving holiday? The pumpkin was actually a staple of the Native American diet, and they introduced the pumpkin, along with beans and corn, to the Pilgrim immigrants. The Pilgrims liked the taste of the pumpkin so much that they included it as part of their New England Thanksgiving feast in 1621. Since then, it has been a tradition to bake a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.
